JF at the Women of Distinction Awards on April 22, 2003 |
On Tuesday, April 22nd, 2003, the eve of her passing, JF attended the YWCA’s “Women of Distinction” Awards night in support of her volunteer partner, Christine Gervais from Acceso International and her employer, Jodie Golden from the Elizabeth Fry Society of Ottawa. JF’s presence meant a great deal to them that evening and they are grateful for the privilege of these last cherished memories of her.
Although Christine and Jodie were the nominees for the awards, JF shone through as their “Woman of Distinction” as an incredible friend, a devoted volunteer and a cherished employee.
For Acceso International’s Volunteer Collective, JF will always remain our “Woman of Distinction.” She deserves this honour for her tireless and enthusiastic dedication to Acceso International’s vision, projects and fund-raisers.
May JF’s quest for equality and justice for all remain in the hearts of the people whose lives she touched so deeply.
A special thank you is extended to Jocelyne Dubois for having nominated Christine Gervais for this award. Jocelyne’s gesture allowed Christine, Jill-Frances, Jocelyne and Jodie to share some incredibly special and timely moments together.
