This page is dedicated in memory of Jill-Frances (JF) Norwood who passed away
suddenly in a car accident near Ottawa on April 23rd, 2003 at the age of 28.
The JF NORWOOD MEMORIAL EDUCATION FUND has been established to honour JF’s tireless
dedication to the education of children, youth and women. The projects are located
in San José de Ocoa in the Dominican Republic and they include the building of a
playground and the provision of school supplies and library books at the primary
school where JF taught in 1993. Support is also being given to the vocational centre
at the Padre Arturo Centre in Ocoa where JF volunteered. In recognition of JF’s
quest for gender equality, bursaries are being granted to young girls at the primary
level and to young women at the post-secondary level from the area of San José de
Ocoa.
