In Mexico, we have provided supplies, cafeteria support and bursaries for primary and secondary schools in Saltillo. We are also supporting summer camps in Ayutla, Leon, San Luis Potosi and Guadalajara, as well as an educational playground project known as “La Casita” in San Luis Potosí.
Between 2000 and 2003, Acceso International assisted a primary school and a high school that are both located on the outskirts of the northern city of Saltillo. Through this endeavour, Acceso International provided educational materials for the primary school, as well as bursary assistance to the secondary level students. Support for the high school's desperately needed daily lunch program was also made possible through this project.
In 2005, Acceso International created another partnership to enhance the basic level of education that children and youth receive in Mexico. Acceso International’s support consists of providing supplies for reading rooms, creativity workshops and summer camps in Ayutla (Guerrero), Leon (Guanajuato), San Luis Potosi (SLP) and Guadalajara (Jalisco). In the reading rooms, the children receive assistance in the after-school hours with reading and writing. In the creativity workshops and summer camps, children have space for recreation, imagination and play. The activities are accompanied by a critical reflection process that focuses on gender, justice and on the preservation of peace and the environment. The formation process based on the popular education philosophy contributes to the children’s integral human growth.
